Diino is a subscription-based service that provides you with many different tools, and lets you:

  • Access all your important files - anywhere, anytime!
  • Upload your music collection and stream mp3s to any PC
  • Share documents, photos and music
  • Share securely within Diino, or publicly on the web
  • Publish your own Blog

  • Stream music to your mobile phone
  • Access all your email accounts in one place
  • Use your new Diino account for secure email
  • Schedule automatic backups

NOTE: The Diino client currently only works on PC's running MS Windows. Diino Web Files can be accessed by a web browser from any type of computer that can access the Internet.

What do I get? goto top

When subscribing to Diino you get an account which gives you access to a private remote file store on the web, starting at a huge 2GB even with our Free accounts.

You use the Diino Client software on an internet connected PC. This provides you with a military-standard secure 'tunnel' into your private storage space on our equally secure servers. The use of the Diino client rather than a web browser enables us to provide 2048-bit encryption on all traffic through your secure tunnel. Diino is also optimised for file transfer performance making it faster than traditional FTP even with all the extra security.

You receive a cool free Email Account (yourusername@diino.com) which, with your 2GB file store, means you will probably never have to worry about "Inbox Full" warnings.

You are also given your own dedicated web URL (www.yourusername.diinoweb.com) where your shared Web Files and folders can be found, and where your personal Blog is located for all to read.

How do I activate my Diino? goto top

Before you can use your Diino you need to activate it. When you register for Diino an email containing an activation link is sent to the email address you enter at registration.

If the email address you provide is invalid in any way you will not receive the activation email, your Diino account will not be activated and you will not be able to use it.

How do I get going? goto top

Register an account, free or paid.

  1. Download and install the Diino Client software
  2. Start Diino and login*.

* Remember, you need to activate your Diino account before you can use it.

How do I upgrade my free account? goto top
You can upgrade your Free account at any time by visiting your personal admin page.

Can I use Diino without an Internet connection? goto top
No, you have to be connected to the internet in order to log on to your Diino.

Do I have to have a broadband Internet connection in order to use my Diino? goto top
No, you can use your Diino with any internet connection, even a dial-up modem connection will do.

I can't login to my Diino. Why? goto top

There can be a number of reasons for this.

  • Are you connected to the Internet?
  • Have you installed Diino? If not, get it here.
  • Do you have a Diino account? If not, get it here.
  • Have you activated your Diino?
  • If you are not a Diino user, have you received login information from someone wanting to share a folder with you?
  • Are you trying to login using an email address as your username?
  • Are you typing correctly (username and password are case sensitive)?

If you have checked all of the above points and still cannot get Diino to work, please contact our support team.

I have lost my password! goto top

No problem, open Diino's help page (the [?] button) and select "Reset password".

If you have lost your username we need to know the registered email address for your account to be able recover it. Please use the support form to send us the address and we will, after verified it, send your username to the provided email address.

Can I use Diino with a proxy? goto top

Yes you can. To set it up, enter the following information into the proxy settings of Internet Explorer.

  1. In IE, select Tools-> Internet Options
  2. Click on the Connections tab
  3. Click on LAN-settings and enter your proxy settings

When starting Diino you will receive an error message. Ignore this and log in as usual. The error message is generated by Diino's internal browser and has nothing to do with your proxy connection. The internal browser is only used to view the Start-up screen, and can not itself be configured for proxy use.

Can I use Diino with a firewall? goto top
Yes. Your Diino will open a safe, encrypted VPN tunnel over the https port. This means your Diino can be used behind almost any firewall. If you use a software firewall, like ZoneAlarm, you might need to authorize Diino the first time you use it.

Can I use Diino on a Mac? goto top
No, but then again, in one context yes. There is no Diino Mac client, so, No, you can't use Diino itself on a Mac, yet a Diino user can share files and folders with Mac users either by using "Send as a link" or by making them accessible as "Web Files". This allows a Mac user to access files and folders from inside a Diino account using a web browser.

What are 'Web Files?' goto top

Diino 'Web Files' consist of two main functions.

  1. Accessibility of Diino files and folders on the Web.
NOTE: Only files and folders you specifically make accessible will be published on the Web.
  2. Your personal Diino Blog

Please note that Diino Web Files are a public domain. If you have not specified a Password on your shared files and folders, they can be seen, along with your blog entries, by anyone who knows your username and the standard URL format of www.yourusername.diinoweb.com.
You can set a password to make files or folders accessible only to users defined by you. But remember, the file or folder name will still be visible to the public.

Can I use my Diino on different PC's? goto top

Yes. There are different way to do this.

Full access (upload/download):
This requires using the Diino client which can be downloaded on site. If downloading and program installation aren't allowed you can prepare yourself by copying the Diino installation folder to a portable device like a CD, USB memory stick, memory card or an MP3 player that you carry with you. Put the device in the computer you use and run Diino directly from the device.

Partial access (download):
Prepare by putting the files and folders you need to access in your Diino store, define them as Shared Web Files and access them from a web browser.

I'm not allowed to install software on my PC. goto top

Ok, this is normally not a problem. First you can try to download Diino as a zip file and unZip it wherever you are allowed to. In the unZipped folder there is a file, BwClient.exe, double click on it to start Diino.

If the above is not possible you can put a copy of the Diino installation folder onto a portable device like a CD, USB memory stick, memory card or an MP3 player that you carry with you. Put the device in the computer you use and run Diino directly from the device.

How do I share the files on my Diino? goto top

With your Diino you can easily share large files with friends and colleagues. To share a folder you right-click on it and select "Share...". Tick the box "Share this folder" and then select how you want to share it. You can also share by using Web Files.

- Full permissions: This allows users to download and modify the contents of the folder. This means they can delete files, change files or upload new files.

- Read-only: This is the default choice. This only allows other users to view and download the contents of this folder.

- Stream-only: This only allows other users to stream MP3 files in the folder. They can't download or modify the contents.

Click OK. You will now be asked if you want to send the login information for the folder to someone. If you select Yes, you will be presented with a dialog where you enter a message and the email addresses of those you want to send the information to. The username and password and a download link to Diino will automatically be added to the mail.

Another way to share files from your Diino is to use e-mail links. By right clicking on a file on your Diino a pop up menu will appear, choose "Send a link to the file/the files by e-mail". By submitting the e-mail address of the person/s you want to share the file/files with they will receive an e-mail with a secure link to the file/s. Since no files are actually being sent you can share very large files. The receiver/s of the link can then choose whether or not to download the file/s to their own PC.

Can I send and receive email with my Diino? goto top
Yes. Diino comes with an email client and your own new Diino email address (<yourusername>@diino.com). Email sent to your Diino email account will appear in your Diino Email Inbox. For more information please see the Diino Email Tool reference document.

What happens if I try to use more space than I have available? goto top
You cannot use more workspace than is available. If you try to store more files than your Diino has capacity for you will be warned, and Diino will not allow you to upload the file/files. It is easy to upgrade your workspace in the Diino help section.

Does Diino contain any ad-, spy- or malware? goto top
NO! Any detection program saying so is making an incorrect assumption.

Can I fetch email from my other email accounts? goto top

At the moment, no. This functionality will be implemented in later varsions of Diino.

The easiest solution is to simply forward your other email addresses to your Diino account.

Can I forward email from my Diino account to another email address? goto top
Yes. Click on the Mail tab to open the Mail tool. Then click on the "Mail Settings" button (the wrench icon) and tick the box "Forward your Diino mail to:" and enter the email address to forward to.

How do I update my Diino Blog using a mobile phone? goto top
Unfortunately you cannot. This functionality is postponed until a later release of Diino.
